The Public Stoop

I love this modification of the steps outside a manicure shop on Thompson Street in SoHo, New York. This elongated concrete step feature that extends the length of a commercial space is quite common in this part of the city, and they have chosen to take advantage of it by sawing the legs off 3 chairs and making a bench/waiting area that is accessible to their neighbors. Later that evening I noticed the chairs sitting inside the doorway stored safely overnight.
